June 20th - Just like The Goonies in Astoria

Visiting Astoria, OR was my plan from the very beginning.
Although, back then when someone said "beautiful Oregon weather", I actually believed it - I was a fool!
The first thing we saw as soon as we parked the car was this boat Fish and Chips shop. If it hadn't been for our Prineville trip where my stomach threatened to kill me, I would've probably ordered something.

We looked around for a bit to find a map as we were only interested in the Goonies museum!
That's not entirely true. This town was really quite cute. Not every town has an "Ice cream Chowder Coffee House".
We walked around for a bit, enjoying the scenary and the timeless feel of the town until we finally found a free map! - And of course it was inside a gift shop where we bolted in just to pick up the map, and escape as quickly as possible without saying a word to the shopkeeper.
And off we went! Straight to The Goonies Museum!

It was quite clever. They had used the police station they feature in the beginning sequence of the movie as their "museum". We were glad to have been inside that particular building.
The place itself was tiny. So a lot of the times we had to squeeze past one another awkwardly. Admission is about $5 per person from what I remember, but we only had cards on us and they hadn't set up EFTPOS machines, so they let us in for free.

Took some shots of Data's gear for my friend Dorothy.
Awesome artifacts from the movie

And of course we had to pose for snap shots. (Thanks to Dan for such a close up on my photo, I had no way of readjusting the scale)

We then proceeded to wander around some more. Until we found The Goonies house!
I felt very welcomed
The Goonies House
View from The Goonies House
Do you remember Arnie's Kindergarten Cop? This is the kindergarten from that movie.
And it's almost on the same street as The Goonies House
We decided to walk back to the car along the train rail. And look what we spotted. 3 deer minding their own business about town... Occasionally nibbling on someone's yard. Do you suppose they were off to a pub?

And then we drove out of Astroia, up north for a bit until we reached the beach.
And to get to the beach, we had to walk through the woods...

And through a field....
...

And then, the vastness welcomes you!

We walked along the beach some more for that nice fresh air until it was time to head back home.
And look what happened to our car from all that traveling!
